The artwork of canal herring, which move freely in the wind and thus appear to float through the air, is intended to commemorate the former importance of the Stecknitz River for Lübeck. Salt was transported along it from the Lüneburg graduation towers to Lübeck, where the herring were preserved.

The church is located in the middle of the cemetery, barely visible from the streets, and can be visited. The church tower provides access to the nave itself. The carving of the pulpit is particularly beautiful. The compact church building with central columns has an unusual layout, including an organ and pews.

The so-called Kaiserbahn was a single-track railway line from Bad Oldesloe via Ratzeburg to Hagenow-Land in Mecklenburg. The line is said to have been built at the instigation of Kaiser Wilhelm II, because the Kaiser wanted a shorter route for his journeys from Berlin to the naval base in Kiel than via Lübeck or Hamburg. The line was opened in 1897. When the border was drawn after the Second World War, the line was interrupted and became meaningless. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1962, and freight traffic (mainly sugar beet) was abandoned in 1971.

This station building was opened on May 15, 1897, as part of a fast rail connection from Berlin to Kiel. It was popularly known as the Kaiserbahn (Emperor's Railway) because Kaiser Wilhelm II frequently used it. Rail service ceased around 1971. The route of the line is still clearly visible in the landscape. A natural footpath and cycle path begins on the east side of the station building, following the former railway embankment to Sierksrade. From there, it continues as a well-maintained cycle path to just before Berkenthin. In the opposite direction, one can also follow the former railway embankment. A mostly grassy footpath and cycle path starts here, passes Siebenbäumen (Seven Trees), and ends back at the main road. The entrance is on the other side of the road, hidden behind the guardrail.

Sierksrade station was a stop on the so-called Kaiserbahn. This was a single-track railway line from Bad Oldesloe via Ratzeburg to Hagenow-Land in Mecklenburg. The line is said to have been built at the instigation of Kaiser Wilhelm II because the Kaiser wanted a shorter route for his journeys from Berlin to the naval base in Kiel than via Lübeck or Hamburg. The line was opened in 1897. When the border was drawn after the Second World War, the line was interrupted and became meaningless. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1962, and freight traffic (mainly sugar beet) was abandoned in 1971. The railway embankment was demolished soon after. Between Siebenbäumen and Berkenthin, a section still serves as a cycle path, in other places the route can only be made out at individual bends.
