Allymes Castle is the only example of a medieval fortress in Bugey. Overlooking Ambérieu-en-Bugey, it is built on a mountain 650 meters above sea level. Its geographical location offers a breathtaking view of Savoyard Bresse and Dombes. As a strategic stronghold, it protected the entrance to Savoy, which was an independent state at the time. Allymes castle is the only example of a medieval fortress in Bugey. Overlooking Ambérieu-en-Bugey, it is built on a mountain 650 meters above sea level.
