Despite its low altitude (only 1,211 meters), the Pic de Nore, located in the Aude department and the highest point of the Montagne Noire, can experience extremely harsh weather conditions. You can't miss its imposing red and white television antenna.

The Roc de l'Aigle offers a magnificent panorama over the Montagne Noire to the Pyrenees, and the ridge to reach it is quite spectacular.

The Pic de Nore is a small flat peak that culminates at 1,211 meters. It offers a superb 360° panorama of the Montagne Noire and the south-western limits of the Haut-Languedoc regional natural park.

The rock of Peyremaux forms a beautiful rocky tooth which is extracted from the forest massif located at its feet. It is possible to climb on it to go to the end, but you have to be comfortable on very technical ground. For insiders, the panorama is worth a thousand times this small climb.

Highest point of the Montagne Noire sometimes nicknamed "the little Ventoux" because of its exposure to a strong wind and its television transmitter, not to mention the various access roads to the summit. Note that the antenna (which always makes me think of a rocket ready to take off ...) points up to a height of 102m and emits FM radio and TV waves (analog and digital).

The road follows the Arnette gorges then branches off towards Pradelles-Cabardès. And until then it's a quiet climb that does not exceed 3/4%. From Pradelles-Cabardès begins the real ascent of the Pic de Notre with a slope, again regular, of 6/7% on a road in very good condition. A good alternative if you want to avoid the more severe slopes of the other climb by the Triby road.

The ascent by the Yèz road is recommended. Beware of the cold snap when leaving the forest ...

Granite rocks on a high plateau. Information board explains their presence using plate tectonics. Nice view, bad way to her foot.
