8月 30, 2022, Schloss Glopper (Burg Neu-Ems)
After permission for the construction of the castle by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian in 1343, the Neu-Ems castle was built by the knight Ulrich I von Ems for his family. 1401 saw the first documentary mention of Glopper Castle, as the castle is also called in the vernacular. Neu-Ems was destroyed in 1407 in the same year as Alt-Ems Castle in the Appenzell Wars, but it was immediately rebuilt at the beginning of the 15th century. After the death of the last Hohenems Count Franz Wilhelm III. Glopper Castle came to the Imperial House of Habsburg-Lorraine in 1765/67 as an accessory of the Imperial County of Hohenems. 8月 30, 2022, Schloss Glopper (Burg Neu-Ems)
The complex was a castle of the noble and knightly family of the Lords of Ems. In 1343, with the permission of Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria, Knight Ulrich I of Ems built a new castle on the ridge of the Rhine Valley in Emsreute, near his Alt-Ems fortress, in order to create a permanent home for his large family in troubled times. In 1407, during the Appenzell War, the castle of the former Counts of Hohenems was destroyed for the first time and immediately rebuilt. In 1603 a chapel was set up on the ground floor, of which no remains have survived except for two pointed arch windows in the north wall. The former winged altar of this chapel (Antwerp master, around 1515-1520) has been in the Tyrolean State Museum since 1835. Since 1843, this exceptionally uniform building ensemble consisting of a small-scale stronghold with a keep-like bulwark, attached palace and lower-lying outer bailey has been privately owned by the Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems family. Jonas-Schlössle, Götzis The history of the Jonas-Schlössle in Götzis can only be traced in fragments. The dates on the east side of the Jonas-Schlössle were not attached until 1884. In the Ems Chronicle of 1616, written by the tutor of the Counts of Ems Georg Schleh, the Jonas-Schlössle is not mentioned, although all other important buildings in Götzi are mentioned. Georg Schleh had access to his master's documents, which were already extensive at the time, so it is surprising that the person otherwise familiar with the area was not mentioned. In the course of the renovation of the Jonas-Schlössle starting in 2001, wooden beams were examined using dendrochronology. The felling date of the oak trunks used for the construction is therefore between 1582 and 1584. The year 1584 seems to have been used as the start of construction. As early as the 1970s, the sandstone column on the ground floor of the Jonas Castle was uncovered, which bears a coat of arms cartouche with the Jonas family crest. The construction was probably started in 1584 by Leonhard Jonas II. Construction was likely to be interrupted soon after that. Leonhard Jonas II died around 1590. Construction only continued around 1595. With the design of the ballroom on the second floor with a magnificent wooden ceiling and wall paneling, the construction was probably completed around 50 years after the groundbreaking. It is a unique example of a Renaissance mansion in the Lake Constance area. A wooden coffered ceiling from the 16th century is valuable in terms of art history. It was extensively renovated between 2001 and 2004 and has since provided space for readings, chamber concerts, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and other events. The square next to the Schlössle is the central event location in the market town of Götzis. The place was named after Dr. Jakob Jonas von Buch und Udelberg (born in Götzis in 1500, died in Abensberg in 1559). dr Jakob Jonas was ennobled in 1541 by Emperor Charles V of Regensburg. In Götzis, Junker Dr. Jakob Jonas built a few houses, improved roads and paths, and the church in St. Arbogast was renovated on his behalf. The annual Junker Jonas market is held there in honor of the Junker. Junker Dr. Jakob Jonas died in 1559 without biological descendants. His great wealth therefore fell into the possession of his brother and sister's children. The Junker-Jonas-Platz goes back to Junker Dr. Jakob Jonas, the adjacent Schlössle was built by the Jonas family and is therefore (only) called Jonas-Schlössle. Grimmenstein Castle, located above St. Margrethen, was a dreaded nest for robber barons. The striking building was destroyed in 1416 and never rebuilt. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1254. In 1315, Abbot Heinrich von Ramstein of the St. Gallen monastery appointed the knight Wilhelm von Enne, who came from South Tyrol, as the new lord of the castle and bailiff on Grimmenstein. The ecclesiastical rulers in St.Gallen and with them the Grimmenstein bailiffs increasingly harassed the population, which led to armed conflicts with the battles on Vögelinsegg and on the Stoss. In the course of hostilities, the castle was finally destroyed in 1416. The ruin was then used as a quarry. Only two legs of the imposing tower and the foundation walls remained. From 1936 to 1938 the castle ruins were uncovered, secured and placed under protection. Today Grimmenstein is a popular destination. (Source: St.Gallen-Lake Constance)

Castle construction It may well have been something like winning the lottery, which Grünenstein Castle owes its formative face to this day. The otherwise very wealthy Schindler family from Glarus won the Dutch state lottery, whereupon they converted the small, medieval castle from the 13th century into a large castle. Outside late baroque, inside rococo, Grünenstein was and is still an example of exemplary architecture of straightforward, "most solemn architectural achievement of local design". Less than ten years later, the Schindlers sold the new castle to Jakob Laurenz Custer. The Custer family foundation he set up for the benefit of his grandfather's descendants remained in the possession of Grünenstein until 1983. With the establishment of Gut Grünenstein AG in 1983, Max and Walter Custer, themselves beneficiaries of the foundation, took over the manorial property and led the castle on a new course. A short time later, you were joined by Jürg Schindler, a descendant of the builder. It was made available to the public, kissed awake from its deep slumber. Since then, the orientation towards third parties has been called: Open-minded. Nine apartments and various work rooms were set up, and cultural events, weddings and other celebrations take place in the many beautiful rooms in the tower and in the music hall and in the baroque garden. http://www.schloss-gruenenstein.ch/geschichte/schlossgeschichte/

Peter Wehinger's banner on the ruins of Hohenems. "The denunciation of art is at the same time the artistic work. On a banner on the Hohenems castle hill he proclaims the slogan: "IT WOULD BE MORE BEAUTIFUL WITHOUT ART"
