And here man has done a colossal work

The highest road pass in the Aosta Valley and a place that has always fascinated the writer for its thousand-year history, the austere Mauritian hospice and the profound beauty of the landscape.

The Lacs de Fenêtre can be reached from the Val Ferret or from the Col du St. Grand Bernard via the 2,698-meter-high Fenêtre de Ferret mountain pass. The scenery, with the heart-shaped lake and the imposing peaks of the Mont Blanc massif, is indescribably beautiful.

Nice outing, for all levels

The hut has been successfully modernized, combining old and new. Not much of the old hut's charm remains, but everything is now more spacious, well-designed, and bright, including a wonderful lounge with panoramic windows. The hut can also be reached as a day trip by taking the bus to the dam and walking around the lake—with a coffee stop at the Chanrion Hut.

A beautiful spot. The lake is perfect for a swim, the hut beckons you to sip a cold beer, and in the background, you can see a mountain landscape that speaks for itself.

Beautiful, smooth, never extremely steep and only a few cars even on weekends.

It's easy to cycle along the dam, but it gets quite steep over the Fenetre de Durand. From south to north, the gradient is probably easier.
