It has a curvature that results from the topographical position of the valley in which the dam is located and helps to keep the wall stable. The dam is used for flood control and power generation, and has a five-port spillway that can be opened in an emergency to prevent excessive water level rise. The maximum discharge capacity of the weir is 110 cubic meters of water per second. In 2002, the wall was extensively renovated to ensure its stability and security.
