湖の周りを回る本当に美しい道

The mysterious castle lake, with no water supply, always the same water level. To my knowledge, the bottom of the lake has not yet been found. It is a volcanic cave system. Where does the water come from?

Not much remains of the Schnepfenburg, mentioned in 1166, which was intended to protect the graduation tower. It was used as an official residence and prison until 1786, then caught fire and was replaced by a castle. This now forms the district court. The Schnepfenburg was described as "insurmountable" and you can still explore the imposing walls above the castle lake today. The viewing platform is only closed at night.

The beautiful lake promenade leads completely around the castle lake.

Nice place to stay for a short while.

The two-storey building with the round stair tower now houses holiday apartments. Built around 1600, Johann Leopold von Geyso bought the estate in 1710 and added the stair tower to the front. The von Geyso family lived in the castle until the middle of the 19th century. It came into the possession of the Prussian Minister of Trade von Berlepsch via the industrialist Wenzel. Outbuildings and farm buildings fell victim to the great village fire in 1895. After the Second World War, the property was nationalised and the local administration and library moved in. A descendant of the von Berlepschs got the property back after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Very nice walk around the Burgsee. Definitely worth a visit 😉

The Bernshauser Kutte is a small, circular karst sinkhole lake and a geological feature worth protecting. A very narrow, sometimes slippery path leads around it.
