Old pretty mosque

In front of the entrance gate of the Fortress of Husein-kapetan Gradaščević is the Huseinija Mosque. It was built in 1826 by Husein-kapetan, and is one of the largest mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mosque has a large octagonal dome and three smaller domes, and is included in the list of national monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It once housed a library, which ceased operations in 1883, and the fate of the book collection is unknown. In the harem of the mosque there are several tombstones, two of which are without inscriptions, while the others have epitaphs in the Nash-Jali script, the oldest of which is from 1854, and the youngest from 1918.

The White Tower is a symbol of Gradačac. It occupies a central place on the coat of arms of the City of Gradačac. The Old Town complex in Gradačac, which also houses the White Tower of Husein-Captain Gradaščević, represents one of the most significant historical buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this national monument is visited by thousands of people annually. In 2003, the White Tower was restored under the supervision of the Commission for the Protection of National Monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was adapted to modern catering needs.
