For centuries, the mighty Martinstor has guarded one of the old entrances to the old city republic of Wangen and today delights the eye of many people.

A painting of Saint St. Martin can be seen on the side facing the city center. The people of Wangen also call the tower the Lindau Gate. It was first mentioned in 1347.
