Great place for biking

You will find a few exciting mountain biking trails in the southeast of this area. They include a lot of tight corners as well as short climbs and descents.

Myles Standish State Forest is covering over 12,400 acres, and is one of the state’s largest and most important protected areas. It is home to many rare habitats and species, including the globally rare Pine Barrens ecosystem, sensitive frost pocket habitats, scores of coastal plain kettle ponds, and 42 rare and endangered plants and animals.

Long Pond is so name because its width of 1 mile is much smaller than its 4 mile length. It's a popular location for all sorts of water sports, especially fishing. Public access is available on the south shore and there is a boat launch charging $10 for parking.

The Claire Saltonstall Bikeway, named after the former Massachusetts senator, was established to promote cycling and outdoor recreation. Since then, it has become a beloved pathway for cyclists, offering stunning views and access to recreational amenities.

These CCC worker statues serve as a reminder of America's Civilian Conservation Corps, one of Roosevelt's most successful New Deal initiatives. Over nine years, they planted over three billion trees and built trails and shelters in over 800 parks nationwide. Their work was of the utmost significance to public land stewardship. This particular statue is number 18 out of 78.

Middle Pond is a lake within Massasoit State Park, a wonderful 1,200-acre (480 ha) woodland. Middle Pond is one of six lakes and ponds in the park. There are lots of cranberry bogs, too. The park has a large network of trails for hiking, biking, horse riding and skiing.
