Nice little walk to some geothermal mud pool

A bit of an unexpected gravel section - quite tough (but do-able) on a road bike. I didn’t encounter any traffic which was great. The rest of the road is tarmac and a lovely scenic cycle with lots of rolling green hills.

A great link avoiding a big chunk of State Highway 2. Check out the beautiful water at Okere Falls and don’t miss the amazing cafe there.

Highly recommend stopping at this cafe, store and beer garden. The all day menu is delicious - I want to try everything on there! Had a lovely brunch and coffee. It also sells beers and has a great outdoor garden (as well as indoor seating).

Bicycle rental service and workshop. Trail Kitchens (restaurant) also just behind. Public toilets also in the area, along with a place to wash up your bikes after a muddy ride if you wish!

Strangely no hot coffee when we visited but plenty cold drinks and hot food (burgers, quesadillas, chips) that looked spot on 👌

Excellent views of Rotorua. If going clockwise, there is a signpost 500m before the viewpoint. Plenty of room to stop and admire the view.
