During the Civil War, the monastery was looted and partially burned. Nuns and their heritage were forced to flee. In recent decades, works of art have been judicially returned from Catalan museums to the Sijena Monastery, turning the site into a symbol of memory, historical justice, and Aragonese heritage. Its isolated location in the Monegros mountains is part of its charm. The arid surroundings contrast with the monumentality of the building, giving it an almost mystical feel.

Following the Capell path you reach the Seròs canal gate towards the Utxesa reservoir. An ideal area for birdwatching.

Wooded area on top of the Tossal de Carrassumada, near the hermitage that bears the same name. In spring it gives you a spectacular panoramic view of the mosaic of colors formed by the fruit fields. In summer, a good shade in an area very exposed to the sun.
