Watch out for those ruts!

Be aware that after Stonhenge the route takes you down hill on a grass path and you terminate at a double gate beside the A303. The route then indicates to go up the hill to the left apparently on the A303. However, I believe that if you cross over the A303 again ( traffic is pretty slow here usually but do exercise great caution). I think there is a foot path the other side of the A303 that you can ride on in safety up the hill before crossing back over to follow the track again I missed this foot path and rode on the verge, not as nice.

Fantastic summer ride. Highly recommended, just so beautiful on a warm sunny day. Navigation can be a little tricky but just use common sense. Such great views and such remote places. Really special. Also do stop at the lovely cafe at Berwick St James, a total surprise and a refreshment delight! This really is a great ride and one of the best that will stand out all summer. I used a hard tail mtb and would recommend this and quite tough tyres. As this is over a lot of pretty gnarly loose flint gravel which can give tyres a very hard time. Definitely carry spares and a pump. Great views of Stonehenge, couldn't believe the crowds and you want the little path just past the entrance road to the Stones not the entrance road. There is someone there usually to assist you. Cannot recommend this ride highly enough!. There is a steep hill just after Duck lane at Berwick St. James which tops out at 16% " Whitehill". Although the left hand fork on the approach leads to the same place.

Yeah unless you're a sicker for punishment this is proper gravel and should be ridden on 40mm+ tyres for best enjoyment. Some pretty steep inclines, it's not a flat ridgeway.

Outstanding views and the perfect place for a midride picnic or chill.

An awesome place to visit anytime of year, a really nice vibe. Many names carved into the trees and some of them are very old.

Great views looking west over Salisbury Plain

This Byway is outside the active range area and is not subject to the Red Flag restrictions, so enjoy anytime.

A steep hill up from each of the three routes, but great views to enjoy once you're up.

There is a large military training area north of Stonehenge. Comes also suggests paths that lead through this area. However, you can't always drive through here. Watch out for the red flags. If these hurt, then you have to choose another path.

A great bit of gravel, rolling hills along the north ridgeline of Imber Reange and Salisbury Plain. Not affected by the red flags on the range

The Iron Age hillfort at Bratton Camp was first carved into the chalk downland over 2000 years ago. The earthworks would have protected a settlement of round houses, granaries, storehouses and workshops. Its strategic position would have afforded residents a far-reaching view and advance warning of any potential attackers. But Bratton's human history stretches back even further than the Iron Age. Three thousand years earlier, a Neolithic long barrow existed here, and 19th century excavations unearthed human skeletons and evidence of cremations. Today, this area of chalk grassland is rich in wildlife, including many important plants that provide a habitat for insects, including the rare Adonis Blue butterfly and the scarce forester moth. Visible from many miles around, Westbury White Horse, which lies just below Bratton Camp, was probably originally cut in the late 1600s to commemorate the Battle of Ethandun, which is thought to have taken place at Bratton Camp in AD 878.

The land south of the village of Erlestoke was used as a location in the 2018 film '1917' set during the second world war. During filming, deep trenches were dug into to the landscape to replicate WW1 scenes. Cheverell Hill Farm, passed on the bridleway between Great Cherverill and the Imber Range Perimiter Path, was once a working farm but is now used by the military.

Enjoyable riding with glorious, far-reaching views. Hard work in a headwind. Do not access the byways when the red flags are flying and the danger signs ('live firing' or 'no public entry') are displayed.
