6月 27, 2025, Steep Climb in North Wessex Downs
Hike a bike for my gravel bike with limited gearing but worth it as it gets you up on top of the ridge for glorious views and miles more trails.

11月 16, 2023, Ramsbury Distillery Company
A very pleasant place to park your behind & rest that’s not ‘another’ 🙄 coffee stop not matter if you’re on a Sunday drive, a country ramble on ‘Shanks's pony,’ or on a two-wheeled coddiwomple and fancy sampling a sherbet or two to ease the pain, (although I dare say they serve tea/coffee as well👍🏻).🍺🥃🍸☕️😁 https://ramsburyestates.co.uk/

10月 9, 2023, Hamstead Lock, Kennet & Avon Canal
At Marsh Benham, the Kennet and Avon canal passes through Hamstead Lock, a pretty section of the canal with a bench overlooking the water. It makes a nice picnic or rest spot. If you head north a few hundred metres up Milkhouse Road you'll also find the Red House pub.

11月 21, 2022, Stitchcombe Switchback
Nice climb, not too steep but will certainly wake your legs up. The switchback this highlight refers to, marks the end of the hard work. Some nice views to your right aa you approach switchback from Stitchcombe. Enjoy

6月 22, 2022, Kennet and Avon Canal Path
The Kennet and Avon Canal is 87 miles (140km) long. It links Bristol to Reading joining the natural waterways of the Avon and Kennet rivers with a 57mile (92km) canal. The canal was constructed between 1794 and 1810. The construction of the railways lost the canal a lot of it's trade and it fell into disrepair in the late 19th century. The canal and path have been restored and fully opened again in 1990.

This mixed use path, part of Sustrans NCN Route 482, follows the disused Chiseldon & Marlborough Railway. The path is almost entirely well-maintained gravel and mostly flat, with some sharp ups and downs at entry/exit points. When dry, it can be easily ridden on a road or city bike (some skills required), but if muddy and wet a Gravel bike or MTB is recommended. Traction is overall very good, but be careful on bends with loose gravel. On a nice, sunny day this is a great trail away from traffic which will put a smile on your face! Always be courteous to other path users, giving ample room to pedestrians and other cyclists.

4月 10, 2022, Holy Cross Church, Ramsbury
"The Church of England parish church of the Holy Cross was begun in the 13th century and enlarged later that century or in the early 14th. In the 15th century the chancel was lengthened and re-roofed. In 1891–2 the aisles were rebuilt and the south porch rebuilt. The building is of flint with limestone dressings, and the chancel is finished in roughcast. The west tower is described as "massive" and has substantial corner buttresses. The collection of stone fragments held in the church includes four which appear to be Norman. The font bowl is 12th century. The interior fittings, which include two brass chandeliers dated 1751, are described by Pevsner as "quite an uncommon wealth". The tower has six bells, five of them dated 1708 and made by the elder Abraham Rudhall. The church was recorded as Grade I listed in 1966." Cit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsbury

4月 10, 2022, Ramsbury Manor Gates
"Ramsbury Manor is a Grade I listed country house at Ramsbury, Wiltshire, on the River Kennet between Hungerford and Marlborough, in the south of England. [...] The gates are flanked by panelled ashlar columns, each bearing a lion supporting a shield. On each side is a square lodge, also in ashlar. In 1966 the house was recorded as Grade I listed, and the east gate and lodges as Grade II*." Cit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsbury_Manor Also: "Gates, gate piers and flanking lodges. c1680 and 1800. Ashlar limestone and slate roofs on lodges. Wrought iron gates with gilded javelins. Piers are panelled with Corinthian nook columns and festoons on frieze, consoled cornice and crestings of lions supporting shields. To the piers were added in C18, possibly by Robert Mitchell, Palladian rusticated flanking pedestrian arches with wheel-headed gates and anthemion ironwork supporting lamps over. Beyond, square terminal pavilions with central guilloche band and 12-pane sash within shallow recessed arch, urn in tympanum and blind balustrade below window. The return has niches and blind attic windows. Central chimney with patera decoration." Cit. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1365500?section=official-list-entry
