Great view of the moorings on the River Colne although access is tricky.

Scenic location tucked in amongst the little streets and alleys of Wivenhoe, just above the quay.

Now closed and fenced off with no access.

The Sustrans route here is over quite rough ground and may not be suitable for wider bikes. The sign says " no motorised vehicles", not sure if that applies to ebikes. If you are unsure stick to the road route which is usually quiet.

Nice spot to take a break.

Nice way. And not too crowded with people. Recommended.

The River Colne flows through Colchester and the Essex countryside on its way to the sea. There's a nice riverside path which is great for cycling. The river runs 39 miles (62 km) in total.

Great grub and heaters at one of the outdoor tables if you need to keep warm, eat and an eye on your bike

Great food and Coffee at a great price, Cyclists welcome.

It's not tarmac but ridable with 25c tyres - make sure you stop for refreshments at the Black Buoy pub :)

A great hard pack trail following the river linking Wivenhoe to Colchester and avoiding the busy B road

At the gates of Colchester, the cycle path leads along the banks of the River Colne. A beautiful, flat stretch on which you can let your gaze wander over the water.
