Lyon's Boat Yard in Warstock is a historic site that has long been associated with the local canal and boating community. The boatyard was traditionally used for the repair, maintenance, and construction of narrowboats.

The quiet tree-lined back roads to the north of Redditch, in particular around the Aspley Heath and Portway area, are simply quite blissful to ride on. Here you can enjoy the serenity of lush green countryside, leefy country roads, gentle undulating terrain, and tranquil surroundings, which seems totally at odds with the multitude of nearby urban environments.

Built in 1842 and is now grade ll listed and is situated over the Birmingham Fazeley Canal

Formerly a part of the expansive Happy Valley region, Chinn Brook Nature Reserve has a captivating charm that never fails to impress. Spanning 17 acres, this sanctuary encompasses diverse habitats, serving as a haven for an array of wildlife, notably various bird species. Recognized as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation in 2007, due to its ecological significance.

The tow path is very narrow in places!

This junction is where the Birmingham & Worcester canal joins the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and also where you would turn off to follow the Rea Valley Route towards Longbridge and Waseley Hills. Here you will find the old toll house currently being refurbished (2022) and an old hump back bridge which is a great spot to admire the lovely view. Be careful here as the bridge is quite steep and can be slippy. Going up and over the bridge and going along the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal takes you towards Chinn Brook Nature reserve and Earlswood Lakes. Stay on the Birmingham & Worcester canal to get to Hawkesley.

Kenilworth Greenway is a former railway line, now a 6.5km multi-user path, which runs between Kenilworth and Berkswell through scenic countryside. Some of the Greenway is due to be removed by HS2, but diversions are in place.

Cosy venue for breakfast, light meals, cakes and afternoon tea, plus waterside outdoor seating. Opening hours: 9am - 4pm daily.

The Hatton locks consists of 21 locks with a total rise of 45m.

It’s s a bit rough as horse have used it when it was wet and muddy but is worth the ride. You can get off for Hatton and Hatton locks.

Henwood Mill is a 400 year old flour mill on the River Blythe. It's now a private home but you can still see the water wheel. Henwood Lane fords the river here but there is a bridge so you can avoid wet feet.

Situated on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, Alvechurch Marina is close to the impressive 30-lock Tardebigge Flight, the Weighbridge pub and Alvechurch train station.

Lovely views along the section closest to Rowney Green, decent gravel surface.

Lovely route through across the farm land, better during the dry weather. Some parts are broken up by horses using it when it was wet. Quiet expect for birds and sheep. Lots of people walk it as well. It can take you into Hatton and the locks but cuts of the main road.
