A wonderful example of a lock bridge, and a great spot for a BAAB (bike against a bridge) photo. It's peaceful and picturesque, you might even spot a canal boat or two.

„Today the Salt Line runs through farmland and woodlands, with streams, pools and rough grassland. Wild primroses brighten up the steep cutting at Roughwood Hollow while later in the year the delicate flowers of scabious and harebell can be seen on the banks. Areas of willow and hazel are coppiced regularly. This is an ancient woodland practice in which trees are cut every few years to produce timber that would have been traditionally used for thatching spars, barrel hoops, hurdles and baskets. Sheltered glades are created where flower and insects thrive, until the trees re-grow and the process begins again. Some areas are managed as wild flower meadows while others are left fairly wild and just cut back enough to keep the path clear. nice quiet roads

We rode this as part of Laureen’s Ride, a waymarked horse riding/cycling route along quiet lanes and bridleways. Conditions perfect beginning of April, although for cyclists, this is a dry weather ride. It will get very muddy.

Nice quiet, straight and fairly flat country road. The area is quite agricultural, but there is heath land to the west.

Just off a main road is this quiet country lane which also has a short step free access to good canal path

You can use the byway just off the main canal footpath

Cyclists are asked to dismount on part of the trail due to rabbit burrows. Fabulous for families, and hikers too

Avoid when rains heavily as does not drain! (You know it's bad when mini bridges from sticks are placed across swamp puddles!)

Peace & quiet spot for a quick brekkie

This lane is lined with blackberries at the end of July.

Lovely piece of the past British architecture.

Nice tree-lined trail for MTB and Gravel riding. Can be busy with walkers, runners and dogs so take a bell and use it.

Note: this stretch is a woodland footpath, overgrown in places. One for the off-road enthusiast.
