Every driver knows this long and high bridge from a trip to Weitra. I was also very impressed by it from below on my tour in the Lainsitztal. That's where you get the real impression of this structure. What I liked best was the fact that you can not only change sides of the road under the bridge here, but that you can also look directly at the bridge support. I've never seen it this close before. The holder of the bearing rollers including the measuring device - everything can be admired at eye level! The photos are from: 2024.10.19. The parish church was probably founded by Hadmar II of Kuenring (died 1217) and was originally built in the Romanesque style. It has a nave with a nave and barrel vault and under the tower on the ground floor is the choir, which also serves as the chancel. A Romanesque double window can still be seen on the tower (two of these windows are bricked up). On the east side of the ground floor, a Gothic, single-track tracery window has been preserved, as has the Romanesque sacristy from this period, which is attached to the tower to the north. The tower once had a steep spandrel roof. [st-martin.eu]
