It's very difficult for paddlers to portage here. There's no trolley. We portaged the boat and placed it in the overflow channel below the weir. However, it was very difficult to reach and arduous.

Paddlers are allowed to pass the motorboats and park at the lock entrance. The lock operator will then signal when they are permitted to enter.

On the southern bank you can still find the fieldstone foundations of an old bridge.

The Stechlin has excellent water quality and, at 70 metres, is the deepest lake in Brandenburg. It also became famous through Theodor Fontane's books. From the north bay you have a wonderful view over the large lake.
