Beautiful cycle path

The Untersee near Liblar is part of the Ville lake chain, a group of residual lakes that formed after early lignite mining on the Ville ridge. Unlike the heavily used bathing lakes in the surrounding area, the Untersee is a protected body of water that is not freely accessible. Older reclaimed forests, some of whose trees are now 30 to 70 years old, line its shores. The lake is ecologically significant primarily due to the presence of stoneworts, which are considered very sensitive.

It's going very well at the moment. No tree trunks or bushes in the way.

Unfortunately, the table and the two benches are no longer there. A little further on, there's a new bench.

From the cycle path along the Swist River, it's worth taking a short detour across the Swist to Kriegshoven moated castle. It's privately owned and not accessible. However, on the way there, you can get a great view of the castle from the outside.
