Stick to the cycle trail... the drivers in this town are terrible!

This is a onetime opportunity to cycle a few kilometers on the beach, truly outstanding experience 😎☀️ You need to catch the right tide though. Won’t be as easy with high tide coming in. Sand is firm and solid when you cycle on low tide.

Crossing point between Pigeon Valley and Dovedale. In either direction its a very rideable gradient on some of the best gravel in the Tasman region.

Opposite Four Square and coffee shop, good shade.

The pie selection here was top notch!

From here you can easily observe the water birds.

The cycle path network is superb

Really cool memorial with a bunch of great information - start at the statue at the top. About 50m off the Great Taste bike trail and worth a quick look. Bench and rubbish bin nearby.

Good fun easy track with great views at times, just remember to watch the track :)

Easiest and quickest way to get between Mapua and Rabbit Island. Just be aware that seasonal hours apply and will affect sailing times.

Great spot to stop and pause, and perhaps go for a swim or splash in the waves, during your cycle ride.
