A wide, well-developed cycle and pedestrian path. At least on weekdays, the cycling infrastructure is almost exemplary (crosses several priority roads). It's a shame that something like this is only being built as part of a Federal Garden (BUGA). So, within the framework of Erfurt's mobility splitting scheme, it remains only a commendable exception.

The cycle path here runs very close to the Gera River. In summer, it's wonderfully shady thanks to its tree-lined setting. The surface ranges from asphalt to gravel, but is easily manageable with any bike. Tip: A little further toward Ichtershausen, you can cycle directly from the cycle path to the edge of the Gera River.

It's very nice to cycle along the Gera, far from cars. You don't have to think about the route at all. Very well-trodden but not tarred. If necessary, it can also be done for sensitive racing bike tires. 😊
