In Watzum, many historic buildings are well-preserved or have been restored. But the other houses and farmsteads also tell stories from a fascinating era when farmers invested their money in improving their homes. The sheer size of the barns reflects the bountiful harvests of that time.

This impressive church is over 800 years old and sits on a hill in the center of the village. It has been rebuilt, altered, and restored several times throughout its history. The beautiful ceiling and wall paintings were restored during extensive renovations in the early 1980s.
