Experience the diverse landscapes of Lower Saxony on a 137 km route: through the Wesermarsch region and the city of Oldenburg, into the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park, and on to the Dümmer Nature Park. The Hunte Cycle Route maps were developed specifically for this tour. The entire route is divided into four stages. Maps are available at tourist information offices.

From the Wesermarsch to Oldenburg Start in the seafaring town of Elsfleth at the Hunte barrage. Cycle first through the wide open landscape of the Wesermarsch before heading to the bicycle-friendly city of Oldenburg with its many historical buildings, rich cultural program, and a pedestrian zone known far beyond the region.

🌉 The Hunte Bridge at Tillysee is an attractive spot along the Hunte River, often associated with the Hunte Cycle Path and the nearby Iburg. The bridge serves as an important crossing over the Hunte and is located in a scenic area that belongs to the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park.

🚴‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ Along the Hunte River, there is a very popular and well-signposted long-distance cycle route, the Hunte Cycle Path. This cycle path offers a varied route through diverse natural landscapes in Lower Saxony.

🌊 Special features: At Tungeln, the river's course is regulated by the Tungeln weir. Historically, this is the point where the Hunte River was divided to protect the city of Oldenburg from flooding and to allow shipping.

🚴‍♀️The route is considered easy to moderately difficult and, due to its mostly flat terrain, is very well suited for families and leisure cyclists. You'll cycle through the wide, flat Wesermarsch region, the bike-friendly city of Oldenburg, and the rolling hills, forests, and heathlands of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park.
