Incredibly beautiful gravel section! A gorgeous gravel path with panoramic views. Especially at sunset.

The 79-hectare "Kührener Teich and Surroundings" nature reserve, designated in 1994, lies directly south of the 207-hectare "Peninsulas and Bays in Lake Lanker" nature reserve, separated by the railway embankment. This protection safeguards two nationally important breeding, resting, and feeding areas for endangered and rare bird species, as well as for the rare fire-bellied toad. The core of the nature reserve is the 40-hectare fish pond, which is on average only half a meter deep and drains into Lake Lanker via a dam on the northern edge. North of the path, which runs along a narrow ridge, a species-rich, wet lowland area extends to the railway embankment. The natural water balance has been restored through damming. Large bodies of water occasionally extend here. The area is part of the European ecological network "Natura 2000" (protected habitat area and bird sanctuary). Pond management

A beautiful spot, definitely worth a visit. The wind here on the coast always brings a fresh breeze. But beware: risk of sunburn ;)

The lake was created as a reservoir in 1908 during the construction of the Schwentine hydroelectric power plants by shipyard founder Bernhard Howaldt and is now a fundamental part of the Schwentine Landscape Park. To create the reservoir, Bernhard Howaldt had to purchase land along the Schwentine River as far as the lands of Count Christian zu Rantzau (Rastorf Estate) and Preetz Monastery. The price per hectare at the time was approximately 2,000 marks. Raisdorf was first supplied with electricity in 1904 by the Raisdorf 1 hydroelectric power plant at the Rastorfer Mill. The Raisdorf 2 hydroelectric power plant followed in 1909. The power plants are now listed as historical monuments and are operated and maintained by Kiel's municipal utilities.

A hike to the Bülk Lighthouse is a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the Baltic Sea coast. The Bülk Lighthouse is located on the easternmost tip of the north side of the Kiel Fjord and is the oldest lighthouse on the Kiel Fjord. The approximately 2 km long hiking trail from Strande to the lighthouse offers a continuous panoramic view of the Kiel Fjord and, at the lighthouse, even a 270° view of Kiel Bay. The route is beautiful in every season and offers numerous places to stop for refreshments at the beginning and end of the hike. During the hike, you can climb the lighthouse and enjoy the view. The lighthouse is open year-round and offers a magnificent panoramic view.

The Kirchbarkau - Preetz - Lütjenburg (KPL) narrow-gauge railway, founded in 1908, connected rural towns in the region from 1910 onwards over a distance of 41.1 kilometres with 23 stops and was used primarily for freight transport, for example for agricultural products. Despite good infrastructure and regular transport, it was not economically viable, so passenger transport was initially discontinued and then all operations were discontinued in 1938. The line was dismantled, but relics such as the Schwentine Bridge remind us of this short but significant era in regional transport history.
