The Maidens of Breitenstein and Röthelstein In ancient times, two nasty old maidens are said to have been banished here from Ellefeld. They still cause mischief in this area. Sometimes they ride in fiery carriages, drawn by similar horses, in a wide arc from Breitenstein over the Gahlenbach stream to Röthelstein. The Röthelstein opens its gate, through which the evil women disappear again. Often, the female figures in black clothing can be seen strolling around the rock, playing their pranks. Sometimes, the most beautiful silver and copper coins can be found there. If picked up and put in a pocket, they inexplicably disappear. It is also said that on the morning of the first Easter holiday, the Maidens of Röthelstein dance.

Great atmosphere here, especially in the run-up to Christmas.

The beautiful Falkenstein Dam, the body of water that is dammed here is the white Göltzsch. You can swim wonderfully in the dam, or you can walk around it. From here, there are very nice cycle paths into the surrounding areas, which are all very beautiful with lots of nature.

The Riss Falls are a wonderful attraction, but unfortunately not as big as they once were due to the construction of the Muldenberg Dam. The white G Kölsch is finally dammed in the Falkenstein Dam. Many information boards provide very good information about the history. From here, very beautiful cycle paths lead into the enchanting landscape.

I love this dam. You can walk around it and swim in it. It was built as a source of water for the Fall Gardt, which no longer exists. The dam is therefore used for local recreation in the area. The Muldenberger dam is also nearby and is also very beautiful. There are many beautiful cycle paths from the Falkenstein dam, some of which are quite challenging.
