The ascent to the Postalm from Weißenbach initially leads idyllically along the babbling Weißenbach stream, nestled in a peaceful valley. Accompanied by the sound of the water, the road climbs gently before the switchbacks and steeper sections begin after the toll booth. The stream remains a constant companion in the lower section, making the ride particularly scenic, before the expansive alpine pastures of the Postalm open up further up.

The ascent to the Postalm via Weißenbach begins directly at Lake Wolfgangsee and leads along the Postalm road up to the Lienbachsattel at approximately 1,300 meters. Over a distance of just under 17 kilometers, the route climbs approximately 780 meters in elevation. The gradient remains moderate for the most part, but increases significantly in the switchbacks in the upper section. The trail initially runs idyllically through the Weißenbachtal valley, later offering sweeping views of alpine pastures and the surrounding mountains. For cyclists, the route is a scenic yet challenging tour, rewarded with the arrival at the Postalm, one of the largest alpine pasture areas in Austria.

Great region for biking

At the beginning of the tour you cross the Lammer, at the end you follow it and always find places to swim or cool off

The old Postalmstrasse is currently closed due to slope stabilization and tree felling work. Ackersbach is open.

The trail is fantastic, and the Postalm is long past its prime as a tourist destination. But is that so bad? It's a relatively easy trail to follow and rewards you with fantastic views – currently (at the beginning of June), the number of motorcycles is still limited.
