The first castle complex was built around 900 on the site of a former Slavic settlement. It probably served as an outpost of the royal palace of Dornburg. Renovations and extensions took place in the following centuries. The outer walls visible today, with their four towers, date from the 16th century.

The moated castle is a real highlight. Unfortunately you can't get in, but otherwise 👍
