A very impressive ⛪️ ruin in the middle of the forest 🌲🌳 .

The half-timbered castle was built in 1917 by Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Altenburg. It served not only as a hunting lodge but is said to have also served as a pleasure palace for his numerous amorous adventures.

The small village, probably founded in the 12th century by the Lobdeburg family, was an active fief of the Abbots of Saalfeld and was repeatedly deserted. We were lucky on a hike to the Herzogsstuhl that members of the association were there and they enabled us to visit it - it's worth seeing. Thanks again to the members of the club.

It is assumed that the complex was created around 1248 in connection with a division of the count house of Weimar-Orlamünde. The old dynast's residence is without a doubt a 13th century structure.
