Here, a resourceful innkeeper is said to have turned the beer shortage into a virtue and invented the Radler-Maß beer: the Kugler-Alm in Oberhaching. Spacious, shady, and with a pretty decent kitchen (for a large beer garden, right?).

Nice, shady bike path on the high bank, and the Menterschwaige is one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Munich anyway. And if you drive over the Grosshesseloher Bridge, you are also quickly at the forest management. When the weather is good, there is a bit of (bicycle) traffic, so you have to be considerate - but you should anyway! By the way, it is also my regular running route, but the path for walkers and runners is separate from the bike path.

Extremely popular destination and beer garden in the south of Munich. Here you can find the best “undressed” far and wide. Background according to the information board on site: The Alm goes back to the first beer serving service to water and forest workers, at the very beginning of 1895 at a construction hut. The lack of a bar license was circumvented - even at the time creatively - by founding a "Consum Association". In 1898/1900, Xaver Kugler, who gave it his name, leased/acquired the alpine pasture. After being upgraded to a real inn, the business developed into a popular excursion destination. According to sources from the Munich city archives, in 1930 the press even spoke of the "largest alpine pasture in the world" after a beer and dance hall for 2,000 people was built in 1925 and the beer garden was generously expanded. In the decades after Kugler's death in 1935, things became quieter around the Alm. Since 1970, however, things have been going uphill again, and the Kugler Alm is a popular destination for people near and far, especially with cyclists because the Alm is conveniently located on the north-south route -Cycle highway between Giesing and Oberhaching through the beautiful Perlacher Forest. http://biergarten-kugleralm.de

The Hochleite leads from Isenschmidstraße in Harlaching to the southern city limits to Grünwald. The path is usually quite wide and in large parts separated into an area for pedestrians and one for cyclists, so that it is wonderful to drive here. Since the Isar high bank is overgrown with dense trees, you unfortunately have almost no view of the valley, but it is nice and shady in summer. It was named after its course along the slope (= Leite) on the Isar high bank.

Railway bridge on the Munich – Holzkirchen railway line. Forms the southern city limits over the Isar. The first bridge dates back to 1857. New buildings took place in 1908/09 and 1983-85. There is a separate "deck" under the train tracks for pedestrians and cyclists. Magnificent views on both sides upstream and downstream.
