The Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area is a year-round park with a 2.7 paved walkway around the reservoir. Looking around at the surrounding hills makes you forget you're in the middle of a Bay Area suburb.
Starting point to a nice trail network around the large reservoir, with unpaved options up into the hills, and a relatively flat paved loop at lake level.
Paved trail weaving along the west side of the Lafayette Reservoir, with a climb up from the visitor center to a small picnic lawn, and back down along the lakeshore, mostly hidden from view by trees.
A paved trail climbs from the Park entrance along the very steep north side of the Reservoir Dam to the crest, where the trail follows the contours around the lake.
