The extensive pond landscape in Riddagshausen is the result of the work of the Cistercian monks, who drained the then very swampy area and created fish ponds. Of the original 28 ponds, 11 still exist today, of which the Mittelteich and Kreuzteich (between which the excellent path marked here runs) are among the largest. The ponds are home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. Great place to relax and also to use for sports activities. A beautiful path around the lake shows the water landscape with the many water birds 🦆 🦢, you can even hear gulls "scream"!
