Richmond Castle (Click to enlarge) Richmond Castle © Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH/Daniel Möller In the south of Braunschweig there is a historical gem on Wolfenbütteler Straße: the Richmond Palace complex, the former refuge of Duchess Augusta (1737/1780-1813). The charming group of buildings consisting of a pleasure palace and outbuildings is surrounded by an English landscape park, much of which has been restored in recent years. The view extends over ponds, winding paths and along groups of trees to a small temple in the distance. A visit is particularly worthwhile in May when the large rhododendrons are blooming. After the von Honrodt family died out, Wilhelm von Veltheim bought back the Veltheim an der Ohe family estate for the family in 1832. It has been in her possession ever since. The farmer Alexander von Veltheim is currently the mayor of Veltheim (Ohe). (Source: Wikipedia)
