The Sudmerberg is a mountain in front of the Harz on the edge of the urban area of Goslar. The mountain range runs from southwest to northeast and is about two kilometers long and just over a kilometer wide. The highest point of the Sudmerberg is in the southwest at 355 meters above sea level. There is also a 317 meter high secondary peak in the north. The Sudmerberg towers over its surroundings by around 150 meters. Large parts of the largely forested area are protected landscape areas. The Sudmerberg is particularly striking in the southwest, where it rises steeply from the Abzucht valley. On the summit, in addition to an originally late medieval, around 14 meter high watchtower, there is an antenna system that rises more than 30 meters and is visible from afar. The Goslar district of the same name borders on the western slope of the Sudmerberg, and the Oker district is in the southeast.
