The former Hofmark Castle in Mauern was built in its current form in 1687 on the site of a presumably wooden predecessor. In 1785, the roof truss was removed and the mansard floor with a hipped roof was added. This is a lovely avenue for cycling, slightly undulating, with a descent near Volkmannsdorf. There the Amper flows into the Isar and the Kämper Bräu beer garden is very close by.
