Gifhorn, also known as the mill town, has its gem facing the city center here. We also get married here :-)

The Elbe Lateral Canal branches off between Braunschweig and Wolfsburg near the town of Edesbüttel from the apex of the Mittelland Canal (MLK-km 233.6, ESK-km 0.0), leads in a northerly direction over the Allertal through the Lüneburg Heath and flows into Artlenburg into the Elbe (Geesthacht barrage).Source: www.wsa-mittellandkanal-elbe-seitenkanal.wsv.de

Very scenic location with some pretty photo motifs. The cycle paths are very well paved and are easy to drive on.

Nice large area of water. Has a certain similarity to our Dattelner Meer 😁

The view of the large area is like a lake. If you want to use the Elbe Lateral Canal for cycling, you can switch to the other side of the river via the next eastern bridge and then immediately turn right to get to the canal.

Here you can - even if there is no snow - get the feeling of driving towards snow

Nice to drive around. Don't forget your bathing suit.

Outside the grounds of the International Mill Museum, on the corner of Lüneburger Strasse and Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse, there is a replica of a Scottish mill. Lovingly christened "Lady Devorgilla", it is used by the city of Gifhorn for weddings and is therefore also called the white wedding mill. The windmill blades only turn when a couple says yes. The original is in Dumfries, Gifhorn's Scottish twin town.
