The cave of Milatos has a sad history. It was here that all the villagers once hid from the Turkish occupiers. Ultimately, however, all of them died or were enslaved to escape starvation or thirst.

The best part of the tour was the 400m through the typical Cretan mountain village. It is simply charming to drive through the alleys, which are also the main street of the village. There are also a few local taverns in the village that offer local cuisine and invite you to stop for a bite to eat. It is recommended to take a break here and take a detour via the stairs in the side streets to take in the charm of the village.
