This is a stop on the Patras suburban railway (Proastiakos), operated by the national railway company Hellenic Train. The "coastal train" runs hourly on two main lines in the region.

The setting for a cup of coffee at an outdoor table overlooking the waterfront and the bobbing boats couldn't be more Greek.

The marina of Aigio (often referred to as part of the port) is an important hub on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth. It is functionally divided into areas for yachting and commercial operations. The marina offers specific facilities for sailors and boat owners. There are approximately 150 berths for vessels up to 20 meters in length and with a maximum draft of about 2.3 to 2.5 meters.

In the region around Patras, greenhouse agriculture plays a central economic role, with endless plastic and glass structures dominating the landscape. These farms specialize in products that benefit from the mild climate of the northern and western Peloponnese, such as strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, cut flowers, and seedlings. Many farms here utilize modern polytunnels to extend the harvest season.

Currently, only the suburban train runs on this route. There are plans to eventually put the line underground within the city limits to make room for the new standard-gauge connection to Athens. However, this is a multi-year construction project.

The Karnagio shipyard in Patras is considered one of the last places in the city where the art of traditional wooden shipbuilding (tarsanas) is still practiced. In recent years, the shipyard has faced closure several times. However, thanks to the dedication of local craftsmen, it has been able to continue operating. Here, ships are still lifted onto wooden supports in the traditional way and repaired by hand, often without modern cranes or slipways. While all fishing boats used to be made of wood, the proliferation of fiberglass (GRP) boats and EU scrappage incentives for old fishing vessels have led to the disappearance of many of these traditional shipyards throughout Greece.

The Rio Fortress (also known as Kastro Riou or the "Castle of Morea") is a historic defensive structure built in 1499 by the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II in just three months on the site of an ancient temple to Poseidon. Together with the Antirrio Fortress opposite, it controlled the strategic entrance to the Gulf of Corinth. The complex has a distinctive triangular shape and is surrounded by the sea on three sides. The fourth side is protected by a wide, seawater-filled moat. The site is open to visitors and offers a stunning view of the modern bridge and the sea. In the summer, the fortress is often used as a venue for cultural events and concerts.
