Schönhausen Palace Park has two faces: that of a lively, tree-filled public park with a meandering stream and that of a secluded, quiet monastery garden. The reason for this is a wall that divides the park into different areas.

An extensive ditch system west of the Panke is still managed and regulated by the state of Berlin today. There are many hectares of allotment gardens around Blankenburg, through which rainwater drainage ditches run in old routes. The Blankenburg carp ponds, which are affected by the Panke, are located here. They are managed by the Berlin State Anglers Association. On the northern bank of these ponds, the Malchower Fließgraben brings water from a whole system of ditches from the Malchower See to the left of the Panke. This ditch system east of the Panke includes the Schmöckpfuhlgraben, which today brings water from the Heinersdorf freight station site and the allotment gardens northeast of Heinersdorf.

An easily accessible path for all types of bicycles. Small signs remind us that a city was once divided here. That's a good thing, because otherwise you won't see anything of this unpleasant chapter in the midst of wonderful nature.

There is always a lot going on here at the weekend. During the week it's fine. Nice little highlight on the Panketal cycle path.

Connected with a small ascent or a cool descent. Unfortunately it was surprisingly full here.

When the weather is good, it is often very crowded on weekends.
