The first lock between the Haussee and the Stolpsee was built in connection with the navigability of the Woblitz in 1752. Former monastery complex with the ruins of the monastery church built at the beginning of the 14th century. The Protestant parish church was built in the eastern part of the church in 1663.

beautiful little lock in the heart of Himmelpfort

This is where Himmelpfort got its name from. In the 13th century, the Cistercian monastery "Coeli Porta" (Heaven's Gate) was founded by Margrave Albrecht. Although the centuries have not been kind to it, there are still some remains to be seen here, and with a little imagination you can imagine the old monastery complex.

The first lock at this point was built in 1752 when the Woblitz was made navigable. The lock was built from 1779 to 1782 according to Finow dimensions and rebuilt in 1976. The system is a self-service lock

The monastery church is still preserved, the other part is in ruins. The place was laid out at the beginning of the 14th century for the convent building of the Cistercian monastery Himmelpfort and is known for its Christmas post office.
