This spring was discovered in 1906 during the construction of the Grimmeisen Trail. In 1913, it was captured and renamed "Holderquelle" in memory of Heinrich Holder (1876-1908). For Ritterstein fans: The Ritterstein "Holderquelle" is the name stone of the original/old Holderquelle from 1913, including the former water outlet, and is therefore easy to miss. It is located to the right of the present-day Holderquelle spring and is one of the more than 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV). However, it is difficult to identify as such, as the "PWV" abbreviation is missing and the inscription is often not golden yellow.
