The mocking nickname "Hankel" for Herrstein's residents derives from the formerly common first name Johann-Karl, which was shortened to Hankel. Great castle ruins and definitely worth seeing. Part of the new building style is added to the old one. Conferences and events take place here. There is also a café and you have a great view from up here.
