It is fascinating that there was a castle here.

Great place with lots of opportunities to explore. A nice barbecue area invites you to take a break.

It's a shame that nothing of the castle complex remains. An information board has been put up. You can still make out the moat. There is a small barbecue area on site.

A detour to the Kraftstein ruins is definitely worth it. There is a small model of the castle, an information board, a bench and even a small remnant of the wall. The further descent is actually not worth it (see Turbo dated December 27, 2022).

A dreamlike landscape that you should cycle through at least twice, because on the road you pass these impressive rock faces, but have to share the road with many other road users. On the cycle path it is a little quieter and the landscape here also has its own special charm. Even if the upper Danube valley is definitely not an insider tip, it is definitely worth it!

The Lengenfels Castle Remains refers to the site of the abandoned Lengenfels Castle near the municipality of Bärenthal in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg. The Spornburg castle site is located around 1,100 meters south-southeast of the parish church of Bärenthal in a hilly location at 800 m above sea level. NN on the limestone formations of the Lengenfelsen above the Bära Valley with the river Bära, which gives it its name. Nothing is known about the creation of the castle complex and its end. Based on ceramic finds, it is assumed that a smaller predecessor complex (Nordburg) was founded on the massive northern rock head around 1100. The southern complex was built before 1300 in an elevated position on the ridge of the Lengenfelsen. The likely abandonment of the northern bastion after a landslide and its scheduled demolition in favor of the new southern castle building will soon occur. The lack of historical evidence also does not allow any reliable statements to be made about the founder and the castle's rule. Among the suspected noble families, Hasso von First and Kuno, Berthold and Konrad von Geisingen are mentioned, who had extensive property in and near Bärenthal towards the end of the 11th century. There is not much to see of the former castle. The numerous information boards give you a good insight into the history of Hohenberg Castle. Benches with a great view invite you to linger

The ruined castle lies above the passage cave. However, nothing more can be seen of this plant.
