The place was first mentioned in a document in 1534. The Stolzenburg in Stelzenberg, which was built by the "Lord of Stelzenberg", was first mentioned in 1293. The Amseldell near Trippstadt is about 360 meters above sea level west of the Karlstal Gorge. In the middle of the 19th century, the Amseldell was set up by the ironworks owner Freiherr Carl Friedrich von Gienanth (1818-1890). It mainly served the workers in the ironworks, but also the local population and royal visitors resided there several times. Today, little remains of the former park-like condition of the popular excursion destination. The Amseldell is the sixth station on the Eisenhüttenweg.
