The frescoes in the sacristy are unfortunately fading more and more. They date back to the 13th century or are even older. To slow down the aging process, access is only possible on "Open Monument Day".

The "Altes Amtshaus" (Old Office Building) is a baroque clay-timbered building dating from 1730 and located behind St. Alexander's Church on the "Herrlichkeit" square. It was built as an official residence after Wildeshausen became part of the Electorate of Hanover in 1719. Later, the land registry office and the district court were housed here. Today, the "Altes Amtshaus" houses a charming restaurant with a beautiful garden in the idyllic neighborhood of St. Alexander's Church and other historic buildings. Wildeshausen was more important than Oldenburg in the Middle Ages and received Bremen town charter in 1270. After belonging to the Diocese of Bremen, it then became part of the Diocese of Münster in the late Middle Ages, then Brunswick-Lüneburg in 1678, and then the Duchy of Oldenburg in 1803. The one- and two-story Gothic brick building, facing St. Alexander's Church and oriented north-south, with a gable roof, dates back to the 14th century. The interior was remodeled in the 1930s; the extensions are more recent, the council chamber is essentially 16th century, and the fire station probably dates back to the 18th century. Both were largely rebuilt between 1934 and 1936, while the guardhouse was probably rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, after 1936. The upper hall now serves as an event space.
