City Lounge (Red Square), St. Gallen Switzerland's first public living room unfolds in the open air of St. Gallen's Bleicheli district. The Bleicheli district in St. Gallen is a typical shopping and office area. The large Red Square is furnished with sofas, chairs, tables, loungers, and a Porsche – all covered, like the ground, in a vibrant red carpet of plastic granules. During the day, children use this unusual urban landscape to play, while employees of the surrounding shops take breaks on the comfortable seating. In the evenings, light sculptures suspended like floating boulders above the square illuminate the scene, drawing young and young-at-heart people into their glow.
