The Aller Bridge near Essel offers cyclists a safe and scenic way to cross the river. The new bridge, built around 2010, replaces the old bridge from 1926 and features a dedicated cycle and pedestrian path that separates traffic from motor traffic. During the crossing, the view opens up over the Aller and the surrounding river landscape with its expansive meadows and floodplains, conveying a sense of tranquility and connection to nature. With its modern design and improved alignment, the bridge not only contributes to traffic safety but also makes cycling through the region more pleasant and varied. Its solid construction provides a precautionary measure: Even the heaviest loads, such as agricultural vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, or, in an emergency, military vehicles, can cross the bridge – an added bonus for safety and sustainability.

Driving toward it, the bridge certainly looks quite impressive (even though it's just a bridge). The completion of the 137-meter-long new bridge also represents an investment in traffic safety, as the new alignment will improve visibility along the entire stretch of road and enable safer pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The entire new section is approximately 630 meters long. Construction costs amount to a good six million euros, including almost five million euros for bridge construction. The project is being financed equally by the state and the European Regional Development Fund. Between 1941 and 1970, oil was produced in Hademstorf, a total of around 160,000 tons. The oil lay at a depth of about 1,000 meters and was pumped to the surface using horsehead pumps. During World War II, production rose rapidly from a few hundred tons to over 10,000 tons per year. After the war, Vacuum-Oil AG organized transport, initially via the Aller River, and later by rail. The operation brought many workers to the village and left a strong mark on the community. Today, only the preserved horsehead pumps, the oil bridge, and the workers' houses on the Hansa Dam remain as reminders of this era.

The Broom-Makers' Bridge was built in 1993 by the Marklendorf Broom-Makers' Guild. It connects the Aller Cycle Path alternative route between Marklendorf and Buchholz, and also connects the Marklendorf Circular Trail to the Buchholz Circular Trail. For cyclists, it is an important crossing point and a beautiful place to experience the Aller landscape. Right next to the bridge are the so-called Rieselwiesen (rain meadows), which were created in 1934. Initially by unemployed people from the city of Hanover, and later by the Reich Labor Service, they were intended to ensure sufficient irrigation of the Aller meadows. When the Aller barrage was built, the water level in the meadows below the weir dropped. To balance the water supply, a ditch was dug to regulate the water level. To this day, more or less water can be channeled over the meadows, causing the meadows to "trickle." On a cycle tour along the Aller, the Besenbinder Bridge is not only a practical crossing, but also an exciting place where the history of technology, traditional craftsmanship and landscape conservation come together.

The Historische Mehlkammer in Eickeloh is an atmospheric restaurant and farm café located in a roughly 250-year-old half-timbered building on Walsroder Straße. It invites cyclists to stop by for a short break and enjoy regional cuisine in cozy guest rooms or in the shady garden under old oak trees. The menu features seasonal dishes and homemade cakes, often made with ingredients from the farm's own gardens, such as asparagus, strawberries, or blueberries. In addition to daily restaurant operations, the Mehlkammer also offers stylish spaces for private celebrations, while the neighboring "Spargelscheune," a former coaching inn dating back to the 18th century, serves as a rustic event location for larger groups. Thus, the house combines a historic ambiance with fine, regionally influenced cuisine.

The war memorial in Bothmer was erected around 1920 as an obelisk-shaped monument made of fieldstone. Set within a landscaped and fenced area, it commemorates the fallen of the First World War with reliefs of an iron cross and a helmet decorated with oak leaves, whose names are inscribed on a granite slab. After the Second World War, a second plaque was added for the fallen and missing from 1939 to 1945. Today, the memorial enjoys protection as a historically significant individual monument.

The Old Church of the Holy Cross in Eickeloh was donated in 1296 by the noble von Hodenberg family after several fatal accidents occurred while crossing the Aller River to attend church. It served as a village church until 1868 and was then converted into the burial place of the von Hodenberg family after a new building was constructed. The Gothic brick building features a groin vault in the chancel, a wood-beamed ceiling in the nave, and a largely original oak roof truss dating from 1351. After the church fell into increasing disrepair in the late 19th and 20th centuries, it was extensively restored in the 1990s, during which consecration crosses and pre-Reformation paintings were discovered. Today, it is listed as a historic monument in the Lower Saxony Monument Atlas and is considered a historically significant landmark of the town.
