Since the tunnel on the Grimsel Pass road is only accessible by bike downhill, you'll have to take the old pass road. However, it's not a must, as the path, part of which is cobblestone, is much more beautiful and spectacular anyway.

The view is great and the descent to Gletsch is no less so. It is wise to enjoy the view while standing still and to concentrate on the road during the descent.

The view down to Gletsch and across to the serpentines of the Furka is something very special. Only the gap where you could once see the Rhone glacier leaves a little sad.
