7月 3, 2025, Elbe-Lübeck Canal
Even though the ground is loose, you can still ride well. There are always little rest stops along the canal – a good thing, especially at 38°C.

Riding ELK from here is simply beautiful. Always along the canal. It's fun.

2月 24, 2025, Rastplatz an der Seilzugfähre Siebeneichen
This is the only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. It connects the communities of Siebeneichen and Fitzen. Even if you don't actually have to cross to the other side, the crossing is worth it for the experience alone. Especially since the ferry is free, but a donation is requested. More information about opening times: https://www.herzogtum-lauenburg.de/poi/faehre-siebeneichen

8月 1, 2024, Stichkanal Büchen
In contrast to the canal, fallen trees and branches sticking out into the water give the impression that it is a bit more natural here.

10月 31, 2023, Seeburger Schlüs and Deenraad at Prüßsee
The Diebsradenweg leads along the western bank of the Prüßsee. It's relatively easy to cycle here and you'll also pass the "Seeburger Schlüs" and the "Deewrad". There is also one of the few public lake accesses here, but you have to go down the embankment to access it. Most of the properties here are privately owned and the lake is not accessible. Otherwise the lake shore is relatively overgrown and unfortunately you only have good views of the lake from a few places.

10月 30, 2023, Güster Historical Trail
Güster History Trail Güster made its name primarily as a gravel quarry, providing the building materials for many of Germany's roads and buildings. At the beginning of the last century, Güster was even the third-largest inland port in Germany. To commemorate this, a cultural trail was established along the resulting gravel pits. The Friends' Association also supported the community in organizing old equipment such as trolleys, tracks from the old mining line, and other tools that bear witness to this working culture. Living history – made tangible for the residents of Güster and its visitors – is local heritage preservation at its best for the Friends of Güster Association! https://www.fv-guester.de/index.php/ueber-uns/projekte/37-kulturpfad-g%C3%BCster

10月 30, 2023, Güster Historical Monument
The name Güster or Guztrade comes from the Slavic word: Gostirady (Gost comes from the Slavic word for guest). In 1230, Güster was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register as “Guztrade” with 14 hooves. However, urn finds from 1911 and 1930 indicate an older settlement. Güster was a typical Rundling village with only one exit to the west and the closed side to the Delvena lowlands in the east. The farming village was mentioned for the second time in 1345, when a citizen of Mölln donated ten thalers from his income from Güster for the Marienaltar. The taxes paid by the Güsteran farmers were recorded in the Bede registers of the early 16th century. Since then the village has belonged to the Dalldorfs in Wotersen. During the Thirty Years' War (after 1648), the Dalldorfs combined four devastated Hufen to form a sheep farm. When the male line of the Dalldorfs died out in 1714, Güster came into the possession of the Bernstorffs. Güster was located on the Delvenau-Stecknitz Canal, the “wet salt road” to Lübeck, which was built between 1391 and 1398. However, this did not bring any major economic benefits to the town. In 1880, Güster was still purely a farming village with around 20 houses and 776 hectares of land. In 1981 the last gravel extraction operation was closed. The exploited gravel area was gradually renatured, and around 1950 tourism began with Hamburg weekend and holiday guests seeking relaxation at the lakes. With over 900 pitches for camping and over 350 weekend houses and other accommodation, Güster is now one of the most popular resorts east of Hamburg. Last but not least, the convenient connection to the Hamburg-Berlin motorway, which opened in 1982, has favored this development. During the renaturation of the inland lakes exposed by gravel mining, the shore areas and the water were almost completely privatized. This created a habitat with residential developments directly on the lake and ecological rest areas in which a variety of plants and animals, some of which are rare, have now established themselves. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCster_(Lauenburg)

10月 30, 2023, Elbe-Lübeck Canal
The Elbe-Lübeck Canal is a 61 km long federal waterway that connects the Elbe near Lauenburg with the Trave in Lübeck and thus with the Baltic Sea. The Elbe-Lübeck Canal connects the Baltic Sea to the network of Central European inland waterways and is therefore of particular importance. It was built according to the plans of Lübeck's construction director Peter Rehder and opened on June 16, 1900. Along with the Kiel Canal, this was the only German canal of this era that was designed from the outset for 1000-ton ships - a considerable size at the time. Nowadays, however, the locks are too small for many ships, so the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is currently mainly important for smaller inland vessels. The canal is now mainly used to transport bulk goods. The canal also plays a role in leisure and sports shipping between the Baltic Sea and the Elbe. The aim is for the Elbe-Lübeck Canal to be navigable for all inland vessels again after its planned expansion and for it to be able to make its contribution to climate-friendly inland waterway transport. But the Elbe-Lübeck Canal is also important for tourism in the Duchy of Lauenburg district. The "Alte Salzstraße" long-distance cycle route runs along its banks, connecting the old Hanseatic cities of Lüneburg and Lübeck on the trail of the historic salt trade route. https://www.schleswig-holstein.de/DE/fachinhalte/S/schifffahrt_haefen/elbe_luebeck_kanal.html

9月 14, 2023, Till Eulenspiegel Fountain, Mölln
To commemorate the 600th anniversary of Eulenspiegel's death, the Mölln sculptor Karlheinz Goedtke created the bronze figure of the jester in 1950 to crown the fountain next to Kirchberg. This popular depiction of the jester has become a symbol of the town. Goedtke also created the bronze relief of the poet George Bernard Shaw next to the fountain. Shaw was named an honorary Eulenspiegel by the town in 1950. However, he misunderstood Mölln's offer and declared himself an "honorary citizen," which the town council subsequently approved. People often meet at the Eulenspiegel fountain for a souvenir photo. The mischievous figure is particularly polished in two places – there's a reason for this: Anyone who rubs Till's thumb and toe simultaneously while making a wish will be lucky. At least, that's the legend... https://www.moelln-tourismus.de/poi/eulenspiegel-brunnen
