The Traunstein town square in its current form was originally created as the main market and Schrannenplatz. The town square is the historical and cultural centre of the town and definitely a highlight. The Lindl fountain is the landmark of the town square. It was built in 1526 and shows the famous Traunstein salt maker in traditional costume, which symbolically commemorates the town's salt history.
